GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) — Nationwide people are taking the challenge of going dry in January.
That means no alcohol for the entire month.
Is that something that will fly here in Wisconsin?
Many Wisconsinites had their doubts this will become a trend.
“I’m a little skeptical of that I’d have to say,” Green Bay Resident Annie Fenster said.
“It seems like in Green Bay there’s a lot of alcohol in the culture,” Fenster said. Wisconsin is one of the top states in terms of alcohol consumption.”
A British study done in 2015 showed taking a break from alcohol for a just a month can have a positive impact on your body.
The same study showed there are psychological and health benefits too.
“I tried doing the New Year’s resolution in the past and you know it failed for me,” Resident Cynthia Nelson said. “If they really want to change their way of life and living I would suggest they take action.”
Staying dry for January may also help jump-start people to give up alcohol for longer.
