WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — A Wausau Boy Scouts of America troop is giving back this holiday season to families in need.
For 15 years, Troop 427 has raised money in December to buy Christmas gifts and meals for families. This year, they raised just over $1,000. That money will provide meals and presents for four Wausau area families.
“You can tell just by looking at these scouts, they really get into this activity,” said Troop Committee Chair Peter Raschke.
Scouts spent Tuesday night wrapping gifts for the families. Troop leaders say the scouts enjoy giving back to those in need.
“Service is a big part of scouting,” said Assistant Scout Master Eric Pease. “It also involves giving back to the community, and this is one way our troop has chosen to do that.’
The gifts were each hand picked and hand wrapped by the scouts.
