Rothschild, Wis. (WAOW) — Winter is fast approaching but luckily one area veteran won’t have problems turning on his heat.
It’s all thanks to the Heat’s On project.
For the fourth year in central Wisconsin, service technicians with UA Plumbers and Steamfitters has checked on veterans furnaces. Last weekend they found a problem with one in Marathon County.
On Saturday, they replaced it for free for the veteran.
“That’s why we do it, giving back to the community especially the veterans, is the things we should be doing,” Mitch Runge, of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 434, said.
The group was in Wood County on Sunday, checking on more veteran’s furnaces.
The program not only makes a home safer but lower fuel bills.
